How Does The 2023 Acadia Compare to the 2022 Acadia?

The GMC Acadia is a popular three-row SUV. This is thanks in part to its smooth driving experience, ample interior space, and comfort amenities. For the 2023 year, GMC made a few changes to the Acadia that may interest new buyers or anyone looking to upgrade from the 2022 model. Below, we'll highlight some of the key differences between the two models along with what has remained the same.

Exterior Color Options

One of the biggest differences between the 2023 GMC Acadia and the 2022 Acadia is the color options on the exterior. For the 2022 model, some of the color options included Satin Steel Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and, Cayenne Red Tintcoat. These colors are no longer available in the 2023 model. In their place are three new colors; Ultra Blue Metallic, Sterling Metallic, and Volcanic Red Tintcoat. These colors are similar to those dropped but not quite the same. Therefore, if you really enjoyed one of the colors that are no longer available, you may prefer to find a 2022 model.

Power and Performance

For 2023, GMC retained the same powertrain options for the 2022 Acadia. The first powertrain is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The other powertrain replaces the engine with a 3.6-liter V-6 model. With both powertrains, you can select either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Since the powertrains remain the same in both years, so does the fuel efficiency. Just like with the 2022 GMC Acadia, you can expect to get around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway with the base engine and front-wheel drive. Opting for all-wheel drive drops these estimates slightly to 22 and 27 mpg, respectively. Choosing the more powerful 3.6-liter engine drops the estimates further, to 19/27 mpg with front-wheel drive and 19/26 mpg with all-wheel drive.

Interior Space

Inside the 2023 GMC Acadia, you'll find the same comfortable and aesthetically pleasing interior as you did in the 2022 Acadia. On the dashboard, all the information you need is easy to find and the controls are all within your reach. A telescoping and tilting steering wheel makes it easier to adjust to the driver's preference. There are some nice touches of luxury and comfort, such as the leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Acadia also comes with ample cargo space in the rear. You can expand this cargo area even further by folding down the second or third rows. This gives you some extra versatility on the days when you have more cargo than passengers.

Entertainment Technology

Just like with the 2022 model, the 2023 GMC Acadia comes with plenty of technology designed to make everyone inside happy. There are plenty of USB ports located throughout the interior, along with a Wi-Fi hot spot for better connectivity. You'll also find an infotainment touch screen in the center of the dashboard, which makes it easy to control your preferred media sources. You can even connect your Apple or Android devices to load your favorite music streaming services or navigation apps.

Safety Features

A big change for the 2023 GMC Acadia compared to the 2022 model are the safety features. For the 2023 model, you'll get a three-year subscription to OnStar along with GMC's Connected Services. OnStar is a service that aids drivers in various ways, from alerting authorities if you've been in a car accident to remotely unlocking your vehicle for you if you forget your keys.

With GMC's Connected Services, you also get an additional range of safety and convenience features. It includes unlimited Wi-Fi hot spot data so that you don't need to pay extra, a built-in navigation system to help you find your way, and free vehicle diagnostic reports sent directly to your email. With these features and more, you can be sure that your vehicle stays in great shape and that you stay safe on the road. The 2023 GMC Acadia received an overall five-star safety rating from the NHTSA and the number of included technology services is a big reason why.

Trims and Prices

The 2023 GMC Acadia has a slight price increase compared to last year's model, while the same trim options are still available. Below are the MSRPs and trims available for both the 2023 model and the 2022 model:
