Springtime is one of the most beautiful times of the year to visit Indiana. It's also one of the best times to visit Vincennes. If you're looking for local events or fun places to visit this year, you won't find any shortage of activities. Check out some of these exciting ways to spend time in Vincennes this spring.

Spring on Main

On June 2, downtown Vincennes will host Spring on Main. This outdoor event includes children's activities, scavenger hunts, and a car show. Live music and adult beverages will be available for a lovely evening downtown. You can expect plenty of food vendors, local art, and more. Art galleries may also showcase pieces by local artists. While this is an annual event that locals may already be familiar with, it's also a growing community event that changes each year. If you'd like to get to know the local arts scene, you don't want to miss this event.

Vincennes Heritage Fair

While Vincennes has a rich association with French culture, the city also boasts Latino, Haitian, and Filipino heritage. If you'd like to explore the cultural heritage of Vincennes, the Vincennes Heritage Fair is a great place to do it. The event takes place on April 22 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The fair allows you to learn about local customs, music, food, and more. Visitors can dance and play games. On May 27 and 28, the city will host the Spirit of Vincennes, a Memorial weekend event that runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. The event provides one of the few opportunities to get up close and personal with colonial life, and it all takes place at the site of an actual 1779 battle.

Merchants are one of the highlights of this event. The wares are those that would have been available during the 1770s. In fact, the performances and music will also be consistent with the time. Food vendors will offer a variety of dishes to transport you back in time as well.

Various reenactment battles will take place Saturday and Sunday, complete with cannon fire, muskets, and rifles. These shows aim to give you an accurate idea of what a real battle may have looked like.
