They showcase high-caliber contemporary and experimental artwork from local and national artists and run special events. All the art on display is also for sale. You can visit Art Space Vincennes from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday with free admission for all.

What kid doesn't love pizza? After playing at the park or checking out the art gallery, take them to Procopio's Pizza and Pasta, located at 127 N. Second St. You can share one of their classic pies or one of the specialty stuffed pizzas, a deep-dish style pizza packed with fillings. Procopio's offers a "Little Italy" kid's menu for ages under 10, which includes personal pizzas and pasta dishes in children's portions. If you have a picky eater, they have the classic chicken tenders, served with chips, with the option to add French fries or tater tots.

Vincennes Escape Adventures 

For an exciting outing with your kids, check out Vincennes Escape Adventures, located at 2425 N. Sixth St. Follow clues, solve mysteries, and play as a family to escape the rooms. They have three specially themed escape adventures:

  • Special Ops: The Hunt for Kore Anne.
  • Egypt: Wisdom of the Ancients.
  • Crime Scene: Murder Mystery.

Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy

Red Skelton, Museum of American Comedy, located at 20 W. Red Skelton Blvd., is a fun place for kids and the whole family. The museum is devoted to the comedy career of Red Skelton, who was born in Vincennes on July 18, 1913, and had a long career in comedy radio, TV, and movies. The museum has interactive exhibits, classic comedy clips for viewing, memorabilia, and more. There's a free comedy movie screening every fourth Tuesday. The center's performing arts theater stages live performances, and self-guided tours are available. There's also a museum store for souvenirs and gifts. 

You can explore the Red Skelton, Museum of American Comedy Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For the summer months of June, July, and August, they offer additional hours on Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is as follows: 

  • Adults:  $8.
  • Seniors 60+: $7.
  •  Students kindergarten through college: $5.
  • Children under 5: free.

As a special treat, admission is free for all visitors on the first Sunday of the month.

First Friday Art Walk

Take the kids for a stroll at First Friday Art Walk on Main Street. On the first Friday of every month, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., there's an art walk showcasing downtown galleries. Some galleries include the Art Space Gallery, the Open Gallery, and the Northwest Territory Art Guild Gallery. You can browse the galleries while enjoying light snacks and mingling with good company. Art is available for viewing and purchase.

Putter's Bay Miniature Golf

Take the kids to Putter's Bay Miniature Golf, located at 1 Putter's Bay Drive in nearby Washington, for a game of mini golf. They have an all-natural course with rocks, trees, and flowing water, providing a new experience with the changing trees and flowers throughout the year. The park-like setting is perfect for your kids to enjoy a sporting competition. You may even decide to play along with them.

Among the exciting obstacles of the course are challenging hills to scale, roughs and sand traps to avoid, and raging rapids to conquer. The park's ambiance is family-friendly, with no drinking or smoking allowed, but there's a concession stand for snacks. Hours vary seasonally, so check the website or call them before heading out. It's also good to check if the course is open during inclement weather.
